Really beautiful Greek church located just by the main road. We were lucky to find it open and were mesmerised by the ornate interior.

Always seems closed.

For the ecclesiastical complex of the church of Agios Nikolaos, the chapel of Saint Charalambos and the sanctuary, the first mention in the sources answers Turkish documents of 1724 and later of 1837. Gideon, referring to these Sultanian decrees, says that they certify the existence of a temple in same space in the years before Allake. A typical example of how the Christian communities operate in Constantinople, where the church is surrounded by shelters of churches surrounded by buildings housing schools, sanatoriums, charitable and cultural associations, the Agios Nikolaos complex, renovated in 1998 by the Nicholas Foundation Vardinoyannis, is currently in very good condition. The date of construction of the Hagios Nikolaos Church in the number 255, in the direction of the walking station, is not known exactly. Jerusalem Patriarch Germanios, who came to Istanbul, visited the church in 1538. German Priest S. Gerlach wrote that the church he visited on April 15, 1576 was outside the city wall and near the sea. Paulus, the Patriarch Clerk of Antakya Patriarch who came to Istanbul in 1652 from the church and holy spring damaged in fires in 1600 and 1633. When the wooden church, which was built with the permission given between 1757 and 1774, soon burned, the current building was built in 1837 instead. The church was reopened for worship on 6 December 1998. The basilica planned church has dimensions of 26.1 x 15.38 m from the outside and its height is 12.8 m. The white marble iconostasis resembles the temple facade in ancient times. To the small frames under the Last Supper scene in the triangle pediment of the iconostasis, Hz. Scenes from Jesus' life have been placed. From the left into larger circles in the lower part; Hagios Menas (1839), Hagios Basileos (1840), Hagios Nikolaos (1736), Virgin Mary and Child Jesus (1838), Hz. Jesus, Ioannes Prodromos, Apostles Peter and Paulus are depicted. In addition, depictions of Hagia Aikaterina dated 1745 on the north wall and Hagios Georgios dated 1870 can be seen on the south wall. Faces of Ambon facing the middle nave Hz. It is adorned with depictions of Jesus and the four Bible Authors. Depictions of the Holy Spirit were depicted on the eastern end of the vault of the middle nave and the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus on the western end. There are Cerafim and Bible Writers at the bottom of the vault. Depictions of Mary of Platitera dated 1885 and Apostle Peter and Paulus were made on the western entrance arch to the apse half dome in the east. The Pantocrator Jesus in the vault of the middle nave, together with the Cerafim and Bible Writers at the bottom, created a very beautiful composition. The faces of the arches facing the middle nave are decorated with the portraits of the Apostle. The depiction on the west wall depicts a piece of land with three churches on it, and the boat on the sea, Hagios Nikolaos and one old and four young fishermen.
