Zografio Gymnasio High School is one of the few Greek schools left in Constantinople. In the past, there are approximately 600 pupils this number decreases every year with the result that only 52 pupils attend today. Zografio operates since 1845 with the name # School of the Parish Parish # and since 1851 it is called # Parish School of Panagia #. But the building was wooden and disoriented to a degree that posed a risk to students and teachers. The Community then undertakes a crusade for the fundamental reconstruction of the School. The project was proceeding in a great way because it was not enough for the money to win 5000 gold pounds gathered. At this difficult time, Christakis Zografos offered 10000 golden pounds a huge amount for the season. After this extraordinary offer was raised a magnificent one of the letters that in honor of his great benefactor was named, ZOGRAPHIO and the inaugurations were made on 19.9. 1893 in the presence of the ecumenical Patriarch as a six-year High School High School and gave the first 9 graduates in 1899.Our visit to Zografos left the best impression both from the organization of the school and from the warm hospitality of the staff of the School.
