Helil Kilisesi

St. Helil ChurchnnIt is located at the Helil Mevkii on the side of the Van - Hakkari highway, 10 km from Hakkari. Since there is no inscription or decoration on the Nesturian church, it is not clear on which date it was built.nnThe church has a rectangular plan and extends in the east-west direction and has an external dimension of 6.70 m x 13.70 m. It consists of two parts. The entrance to the west is accessed through a door from the south-west corner. It is covered with barrel vault in east-west direction.nnThe eastern kanki section is accessed by two gates, one in the middle and the other on the south. The ceremonial door in the middle is in the form of a pointed arched opening and is kept larger. The rectangular room in the north-south direction is covered with a barrel vault in the same direction. There is a niche (mihrab) on the east wall in the axis of the ceremonial gate. There are cupboard niches on the side walls.

The Halil Church, which is thought to belong to the Nasturians, is located in the Helel district of Zap Valley, which is 10 kilometers away from the city. East, in the direction of the west of the barrel vaulted, covered with western windows in the windows are illuminated. The entrance to the church is followed by two iron gates with pointed arches. The church is waiting to be restored more and more every day.
