The hospital, which served as a madrasah during the Ottoman period, was used for military purposes during the First World War; then it was abandoned for about half a century and repaired in the 1960s. In one of the medical madrasah rooms, there is also the tomb of Gevher Nesibe Sultan. Şıfahiye and Gıyasiye madrasas are two structures with adjacent open courtyards.
