Since Doğubeyazıt is located on the Silk Road, this castle is thought to have taken important duties with its position overlooking the plain. Later, it is seen that various additions and repairs were made in the Seljuk and Ottoman periods.

This fortress was probably built in the period of Urartu, there are large and small tomb type caves on the rocks next to it, there are Urartu warrior reliefs at their entrances.
