A part of Halfeti, the district of Şanlıurfa, was flooded in 2000 due to the construction of the dam. In Halfeti, which is known as the Sunken City, historical artifacts were submerged under the water besides the homes of many people due to this painful event. Today, the flooded part is known as the Old City. You feel a bitterness while walking the streets of the Old City. You can take a boat tour in Halfeti and see the structures still standing among the waters such as Ulu Mosque and Greek Castle.
