Built by the architect Hürrem Shah of Ahlat in 1288, the Great Mosque and Hospital have plain facades. Their status as a unique masterpiece rests on the merits of the stone carving decorationsnnEach and every figure in the decoration is a unique marvel of art and architecture, as well as a feat of engineering.nThe Great Mosque of Divriği is the most splendid example of the mosques built during the Seljuk Period in Anatolia. Its portals represent a unique and distinct style of their own. Each is distinct from other decorations. For example, the wreath of life used on the portal on the north facade is noteworthy, as it depicts an imaginary plant world that only existed in the imagination of the craftsman. Must visit this Heritage site.
Wasnt able to go through all of it , but what i have visited was magical
Unfortunately, the interior of the Mosque was closed due to restoration (july 2019), so I could only see the exterior. The gates are all extensively decorated with different patterns carved in the rocks.
Yes it's being renovated at the moment but I disagree that you shouldn't come here. You can still wash around it and see the ornate entrances. Which are beautiful. But yes, you should definitely still come and visit.
