Hüseyin Bayat (12/21/2020)
Mosque also known as Yenicami in Tosya district of Kastamonu It was built by Maraşli Abdurrahman Pasha in 992 (1584). It was heavily damaged in the 1943 earthquake and was later restored. It is known that it was repaired in 1917. The walls of the building, which is located at a point that dominates the environment in terms of its topographic position and which is among the centrally planned mosques of the Mimar Sinan period, were built with cut stone and brick, and covered with a system of four semi-domes. Apparently not symmetrically planned, the small domes in the north corners do not have similar ones in the south. The five-sided front part of the mihrab extends outside along the half dome. The cover system is carried by four legs, two of which are octagonal and independent, and two are adjacent to the wall. The domes of the five-eyed narthex are placed on sharp arches and six marble columns. The mosque is entered through two doors on the north and west sides. There is a building inscription dated 992 (1584) on the main gate with mukarnas Kavsara. Like the door, the marble mihrab niche is filled with stalactites. The interior is illuminated by many windows, and the revzens and hand-made decorations belong to the restoration made after the earthquake. The minaret, which rises on an octagonal base in the northwest corner of the mosque, was built during the restoration after the old minaret with a polygonal body collapsed in an earthquake. Although the covering systems of Diyarbakır Fâtih Pasha, İstanbul Şehzade, Üsküdar Mihrimah Sultan and Manisa Muradiye mosques were repeated in the Abdurrahman Pasha Mosque, a different application was carried out in the plan of the building, with the overflowing mihrab front part seen in the late period.
