Saklıkapı Karaleylek Kanyonu

The peak of Karaleylek Canyon is approximately 1 km north of this marked place.nnIn addition, Karaleylek canyon and Saklıkapı canyon are two different places that are approximately 5 km from each other.nnBlack Stork Canyon is a natural wonder area where Black Storks, estimated to be 10-15 thousand pairs in the world, nest. The canyon is within the borders of Kumlutarla village of Baskil district of Elazig on the Euphrates river and 3 km away from the village center.nnTransportation to the canyon is done by boats. From Baskil to Kumlutarla (48 km) is reached in about 1 hour by road. Boats usually stop at the floating pier at the entrance of Saklıkapı Canyon after they first stop at the Karaleylek Canyon and then at the entrance to the Güngörmez Canyon on the opposite shore. The other floating pier was established in the neighboring village Hüyükköy, just south of Kumlutarla village.nnThe cave systems formed on the steep slopes of the Karaleylek Canyon are mostly natural cave formations due to the easy erosion of the rock and layer structure here. However, it is seen that these cave formations were used extensively by people in history. The ladder systems carved into the rocks descending from these cave settlements to the Euphrates Valley are an indication of this settlement.nnIn the Karaleylek Canyon, the mouths of the caves generally face the Euphrates River. The most important of these caves is Tepesidelik cave. With the collapse of the middle part at the top of the cave, the entrance part has formed a natural bridge. There is also a fresh water spring flowing from the ceiling in the cave.nnTransportation to the canyon is provided by boats over the Euphrates River. In addition, the upper ridge of this canyon can be reached by walking approximately 30-40 minutes from the village of Kumlutarla, which is 48 km away from Baskil district center.nnIt will be more appropriate to do the trekking as a group with a guide.

Saklıkapı canyon is a geography that surprises with its nature, natural structure, changing geography and rock formations, sometimes in America, sometimes in Avanos or Ürgüp, a different climate. Relief work can be done for transportation, but because Elazig Directorate of Culture consists of a sign, it is an institution that only receives a salary, otherwise there are problems of such a place, it could be better with a little different studies. Elazig is a city that perished in unworthy hands.

It is beautiful geographically but the last 10km of road leading down to the canyon is a disgrace. Stone soil always. My fault lamp burned out, we couldn't help saying whether we came for this after that road. There is no facility next to it. Also neglected. I don't think I'll come again
