MS it was built on an ancient temple dating back to the 2nd centruy AD. In the 5th or 6th century, a large church/basilica was built using the architectural parts of the ancient temple. This structure, built by the Byzantines, is the Panaghia Church built in the name of the Virgin Mary. Building MS it was destroyed during the Arab raids in the 7th century MS it was renovated with some additional sectrons in the 9th century. The work was converted into a mosque during the Seljuk Period. In 1361, when the King of Cyprus Peter I invaded Antalya, the church was built again. The building was converted into a mosque again. Sultan II it took place during the reign of Beyazit's son Şehzade Korkut (1470-1509). For this reason, the work that contains both ancient Byzantine and Seljuk building elements is called Korkut Mosque.
