The staff are friendly. The food was bellow avg, arrived cold. The lamp shank was hard and chewy, they pour an awful amount of melted butter on their iskender kebab and there is nothing special about their seating area. Would not recommend.

Worst experience ever in Turkey, it’s almost a fraud. You should avoid this restaurant if you’re a foreigner. The staff try to cheat us by adding a totally unreasonable “service fee”, but actually they didn’t offer any service. When we ask for the menu to check the price, the staff try not to give it to us. We order one dish which is 45 TL but the staff told us it cost 55TL. After we check the menu he told us 10 TL is service fee..... We have to argue for minutes then he gave up and to let us paid with “normal” price.... Besides from this event, this restaurant costs too much for what they offer. The french fright and bread were cold and stiff. Any one turkish home style restaurant could do better.

It was unavoidable to give 5 star to this restaurant for many reasons. While visiting Istanbul from London we wanted to try authentic Turkish cuisines at a restaurant where customers matters and we got that right here. The first time we visited this restaurant was unplanned when we stepped in for a munch after visiting one of the great holy and historical site Ayup Mosque. This restaurant is just opposite the main entrance to the Ayup Mosque. The food was excellent with generous portions and served in great care. But cherry on the top was their Syrian waiter Ziyad KHALID who was attentive, charming and very courteous, adding much to our pleasure making us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for him. Ziyad (or Ziyat) helped us to choose from their menu full of so many main courses and sides, and we are so glad that we asked he’s opinion as every bit of food was tasty as heaven. We tried to tip Ziyad at the end but he adamantly refused taking tip from us saying, “you’re guests from another country and I will feel ashamed taking tip from you”. We have never seen anyone refusing tip in the whole trip but Ziyad is real gentleman. Restaurant was neat and we were served in no time. The ambiance indulged with cultural pottery, paintings and wall arts that will amaze you to spine. A must to visit place if you like authentic Turkish cuisine with best friendly and courteous service. Ask for Ziyad and he will make you feel home. Highly recommended.

Located next to a holy mosque of significance, this venue is frequented by the more religious and conservative crowd. But that has no bearing to the quality of food served and the very reasonable prices. I observed no tourists here (the season maybe?). It is really worth a try.
