It is a must-see museum in Sinop. Sinop is a city that has hosted many civilizations for many years, and it is possible to see this from excavation areas that have been protected while walking on the streets. I can say that there are artifacts that you should see in the museum. If you come with your car, there is no parking lot nearby and the roads on three sides of the museum are one-way. You can go to the beach side and park in the streets between the covered market place.
Erol Sarı (08/19/2020)
The archaeological one of the 2 museums of Sinop. It has 2 floors and a large garden, but the first floor is arranged as a museum. Entrance fee 10 TL (August 2020). The ground floor is in 2 corridors and 3 halls. There are imitation icons in one of the corridors, the originals were sent to Istanbul for examination. Halls are Small Finds Hall-Stone Works Hall-Amphora Hall. A large mosaic piece that catches my eye, a sculpture depicting a hunting scene in which 2 lions smash a deer, an Amphora furnace (made later, for reenactment), plenty of coins. So it's a small museum. The Diogenes statue at the entrance of the museum is now at the entrance of the city. 2 lions were placed on the right and left.nnBut its garden is more beautiful. There is a large, camellia, ornamental pool, milestones, tombs and sarcophagi, sphinxes, jars. In one corner, Aynalı Kadın Mausoleum and Ottoman Tombstones are exhibited. In an advanced garden, there are anchors, cannons, the Monument of the Martyrs of the Sea, the Sinop house and castle as a model. In addition, the ruins of the Serapis Shrine were placed in this 2nd garden. Sinop museum is considered new; In this building that was put into service in 2006. Its location is behind the Government and Courthouse buildings.
