Utterly beautiful ruins. This place must have been spectacular. The surroundings are beautiful. You can just stand and soak it in.

Church of St Gregory built by the King Gagik. Its ambitious design ultimately failed and its massive dome collapsed a few decades after construction. In the early 1900's it was excavated out of the hill that had covered the remains of the church.

Unfortunately this church is not very well preserved. However it is still quite impressive! Even on the ruins, columns and crumbled walls it is possible to see some ornaments, carvings and texts in Old Armenian. One other marvelous fact is that this church is one of the really rare churches that have a circular form.
