Abandoned mosque 🕌🏚️🔍 Utilizing some down time while traveling here in Turkey I was playing on Google Earth and actually found an abandoned structure but could not quite tell what it was from the satellite view.... Upon further in person inspection it turned out to be a B-E-A-utiful well-preserved abandoned mosque hiding in the forest next to a small river 🏞️🕌🌳💜 Absolutely amazing how detailed and intricate all the masonry work is on this building. Especially on the dome! I simply cannot fathom just how many man hours it took to build this gorgeous structure 👷📐⚒️🔥 Local legend says that this mosque was built in 1483 and was plagued by almost constant flooding in the 1800's buuuuuut according to the inscription above the main door this place was built by Kasım Pasha in 1479... At least that's what the Google Translate camera app said 🤷‍♂️ Regardless today the close by river is pretty disgusting with trash and sewage running through it.... I imagine that's as good of a reason as anything else to pack up and move to higher ground 🤦‍♂️🤢🤮 I'm sure the actual history of this place is just as interesting as the building itself... Wish I could have found more reliable info but that's all we got as of right now 🤩🤔🤓

He was one of the viziers of the reign of Fatih and Bayezid II and became Vezir-i Azam in 1483 instead of İshak Pasha. It is also known as Evliya Kasım Pasha and its neighborhood in Edirne still lives today. Kasımpaşa Mosque is on the edge of Tunca river. Although some of the stairs leading down to Tunca river have been lost, it is evident. It is possible that the people of the time came to the Mosque of Kasımpaşa by praying. Kasım Pasha had a large document for his imaret in Edirne, and it would be appropriate to mention that this mosque and many documents and books belonging to the imaret were found in the Topkapı Palace Archive. Turkish of Construction Book: "He is one of those who make the masjids of Allah, and this building, which is one of them, the building of the supreme, gatherer, latif and honor, has been built by Kasım Pasha in 883. According to this inscription, the building was built by Kasım Pasha in 1479 (H.883). architecture Mosque walls and minaret are built with neat cut stones. It is observed that smooth cut stone and brick are used alternately in the pulley. Traces of a last congregation place can be seen on the northern facade of the mosque. Traces that can still be seen on the upper part of the façade indicate that there is a place of last congregation with a wooden roof. Four windows placed on top of each other on the east, west and south facades of the work; There are windows on the hoop. The bottom row of these windows are rectangular shaped openings placed in a buckling. Each of them has a pointed arch pediment. The windows in the upper row end with a pointed arch. There are two windows on the north front, except the crown door, and an outer mihrab placed between these windows. A small star with five arms is carved into the window pediments. There is a harim entrance at the eastern end of the north facade. The door, which was built with a slightly overflow, is framed by a series of moldings. The recessed arch entry gap is housed in the main niche with a pointed arch and a deep smashing appearance. There is a three-line construction inscription on the bottom wall of the main niche. The flat arch, which covers the entrance gap, which was covered by knitting today, was built with two colored stones. Located on the northern end of the harim's eastern wall, the minaret, cones and balconies of balconies have been destroyed. The minaret is entered through a pointed arched opening on the north face of the bench. A belt consisting of triangles in the lower part of the two-stage shoe (the funnel section that provides the transition from the chair section to the body in a minaret.); On the upper part, a pointed arching sequence is observed. Slightly below the cheers transition, a slippery bracelet wraps around the body. A sundial draws attention in the middle of the western wall of the mosque. The "Zeval" text is read in the northern part of the watch. On this word, on the western gate of the courtyard of Edirne Üç Şerefeli mosque; Edirne It is found on the western gate of the old mosque and at sundials on the western wall of the courtyard of the Edirne Selimiye Mosque.
