The wine was exported from here to Athens. Astronomer, mathematician and philosopher Eudoxus, sculptor Praxiteles, doctor Euryphon, famous painter Polygnotos and Sostratos, the architect of the Lighthouse of Alexandria in Egypt, one of the 7 wonders of the world, lived in Knidos.

The ancient city of Knidos is the city of Caria. It was founded as a city of icaret 2400 years ago, and like all other Anatolian ancient cities, it started to collapse in the 700s when Arab invaders began to arrive and was abandoned.
