Basak Hotel

Just a bed and fan for 60 TL. Not a fair price. The receptionist/owner looked like he wanted me dead. Younger guy that was on duty good. No english spoken. Central location. Overall probably the cheapest place for backpackers.

No aircon in the room. However, you cannot open the door unless you want the insects coming! Power plug doesn’t work. One of my worst stay in turkey.

Paid 70 TL for a private room (35TL each) so one of the cheapest places in old Mardin, but still quite expensive for what you would expect. Shower was closed in the morning for some strange reason, the beds had dwarf sized sheets so you would basicly sleep in the blanked which are probably not cleaned between hosts. For something around the same price, go to Sahmeran Pension Hôtel (Pansiyon in turkish), which gives about the same service but with a breakfeast and in much more enjoyable place (old courtyard, trees, terrasse etc..)

The hotel is badly kept, and during my stay I am told only after paying that the water does not work. No shower, and no toilet either. I get angry and at least try to negotiate a discount on the price, from 150 to 120 TL for a tiny double. However too much. I ask for a receipt, they literally laugh in my face. Never seen such a high level of rudeness and such poor professionalism: embarrassing inadequacy. The rooms are dusty, and I don't want to know about the sheets. I do not recommend it to everyone, I hope no one should ever come in the future. Don't go there, if you can. To avoid.

Built in the most central part of Mardin, this hotel offers excellent service with excellent staff and friendly owner. I also liked their attitude towards the students very much.
