Liuliao Historic Trail

A great place to go for hiking. There are more than 10 trails for one day hike. There is a small restaurant that visitors can have a simple Hakka food, Hakka Green Teauff0c Ice cream...etc. It's better to visit the visitor center to get a better idea of the area. The hiking trail has been reconstructed, therefore it is easy to hike. Some other trails have stairs and some are flat. There are 7 buses going from ChuBei train station directly to the visitor center.

It’s pretty nice here. There aren’t any amazing views here like many other hiking trails around Taiwan (hualien, taitung, etc) but it’s a nice escape from the city if you’re in the hsinchu or zhunan area. Some nice temples. I wasn’t here when all the flowers are around; will come back then for a much better view.

Compared with the Lion Mountain Trail, I personally like the Liuliao Trail, which is all asphalt roads, but there are more vehicles on the Lion Mountain Trail. After all, walking the trail just wants to breathe fresh air! And there is no shade. In comparison, the Liuliao trail is much cooler. There is a primitive trail from Qixing Shenmu to Qixing No.1 Pavilion. It is not long but I like it very much. Since I am here at Lion Mountain, I suggest taking the route to Shuilian Cave and the water. Walk along the Lianqiao Trail, these two trails are not long, but they feel different! It is commendable that the indicators along the trails are very clear.

Just take the Shishan Trail from the Liuliao Ancient Road to Qixing Shenmu.
