I have been to many places, visited hundred of museums and this one took me by surprise. I enjoyed a private tour following a lecture given at this prestigious institution and the two hours visit was a blast. The guide was actually working there and very knowledgeable. I learned so much about Chinese history during this trip that I decided to buy some books to learn more. I particularly enjoyed the section with the wooden slips.

Just love this museum. For me it’s better than the National Museum. The layout is modern and original. So interesting and not repetitive. Lots of explanations in English. Staff very welcoming.

Excellent museum with great English signs. And it includes an exhibition about Chinese ethnicities that is actually interesting and intelligent! Also very good exhibitions on stele inscriptions, imperial edicts, rare documents, Shang artifacts, and more. And an amazing little room with oracle bones. One of the best museum experiences in Taipei. When we went it was almost completely empty, which is a shame but also nice to avoid crowds. Only complaint is that they keep the temperature very cold, so bring a sweater.
