Excellent French cuisine! One of fine-dining restaurants in Kaohsiung, each dish perfectly combined the season and local foodie. Definitely would like to visit again and try other seasonal menu. Appreciate the team provide us a memorable fine-dining experience.

Pretty interiors, pretty plating, food was okay overall but the entrées needed work, the service could also use some work. Everyone was friendly but perhaps not super experienced. We had gotten one wine pairing and one juice pairing to try both and one of the waitresses described the after taste of one of the wines as “similar to gasoline.” Not sure if that appeals to anyone else but it certainly did not appeal to me and gasoline was all I could think of when trying the wine...The pacing of the courses was inconsistent with us waiting for a long time in between some courses and other courses coming very quickly. The 酥皮湯/佛跳牆 fusion was not for me. I didn’t like the idea of the puff pastry becoming soggy in clear broth—something about mixing flour based carbs and clear soup doesn’t feel right to me and I tried a bite of it together since that was what was suggested and preferred eating the broth and pastry separately. Also didn’t think the supplement option of black truffle made much sense for this dish since the flavor was already very strong and once the truffle was mixed in, its aroma/flavor was pretty much lost altogether. The fish wasn’t tender/flaky at all which was kind of surprising since good texture should be pretty basic, especially considering how the restaurant is charging true fine dining price for a brief 7 course tasting. The strawberry dessert was photogenic but gimmicky and we were told to wait for the frozen berry slices to warm up to room temp before eating—kind of impractical lol. Aside from the look of the restaurant, I think what I liked most was actually the Alain Milliat Merlot grape juice they served with one of the main courses. And lastly, they had a sentence on their restaurant rules notecard that rubbed me the wrong way. It said something along the lines of how their Japanese chef understands Taiwanese culture but to please still follow their rules anyway. To put it as nicely as I can, I understand where they’re coming from but for someone foreign who has set up shop in a different country, I think perhaps the phrasing could be improved as to avoid being off-putting. This place has nice bones but still has a long way to go before they should get this kind of hype/recognition—it’s just very average right now.
