Churchill's Sausages

Finally proper British sausages and pies in Taipei, now we just need a pub beside it. I tried the freshly made sausage rolls, steak pie, and scotch egg. The concept is to grab and go, the food was warm so the pastry wasn't as crispy ( I like my sausage rolls & pies piping hot) but the taste was great. The scotch egg has a spicy kick to it and that lovely ooey-gooey egg centre was absolutely delicious. I bought frozen sausages, sausage rolls, and pork pies to oven at home, the owner reassured me they have made a foolproof oven method that comes perfectly each time. The sausage rolls are individually wrapped with parchment paper so it won't burn the pastry, genius. The sausage rolls came out evenly crisp and the meat was piping hot, delicious. The taste of pastry was more apparent when it was hot, it's not as buttery and flakey as the ones you get in the UK, most likely due to using non-British butter and flour, I'm not entirely sure. The sausage meat tastes 95% like the ones in the UK, the textures need to be a little firmer if to be picky, overall it was delicious, freezer-friendly, and very easy to make at home. The sausages were tasty, the smell reminds me of the rare sunny days back home where we would fire up the BBQ in the garden. The flavour was bang on and the only difference would be the texture, there's a small chunk of fat in the middle ( like the Taiwanese sausages) which resonates with the locals familiarity of fresh sausages. The pastry for the Pork pie was deliciously buttery and came out perfectly from the oven. The texture of the meat was good and just needed a little more fat, however, the herb was over empowering and I could only taste rosemary throughout. Overall, pastries and sausages are very well made and extremely reasonable price. I highly recommend buying frozen ranges to make at home, take it out from the freezer for a quick meal, nothing beats the smell of freshly baked pastries. They have other ranges of black pudding, beef patties and different flavours of sausages, which I have yet to try. Churchill sausages bring the traditional taste of British pastries and pies and deserve more recognition especially to the locals, who are accustomed to western food being American.

Pretty good meat pies especially for the price! Only 129元 for a meat and onion pie. They're hot and ready to eat upon purchase. They also keep their shape as they're meant to be eaten with your hands (like a sandwich). Fair warning, it is a little bit hard to find. It is inside Carrefour, literally inside the market near the meats and fresh produce. I thought it would be a freestanding stall kind of like Mr. Donut.

Churchill's offer the finest range of quality, traditional British pies, sausages and a huge range of other delicious, savoury, much sought after products on the island. I encourage anyone to look up their vast array of offerings on their FB page. Their goods can be purchased at several Northern locations, but can also be delivered island wide. Great foreign high quality deli with inexpensive prices. The owner is a bit cheeky, but very friendly and jovial. Hand made gourmet burger patties at only 50ntd each. And the ONLY place in all of Taiwan you can get Cod Fish and Chips done British style. Eat there. And buy a ton frozen to bring home with you.

Great pies! 5 star rating for that. I've wanted to try the scotch eggs and fish&chips for a while, but it seems that a lot of menu items aren't available on foodpanda. I don't like going in person, since there is no disposable cutlery provided. It would be great if they could provide gravy and some potatoes/peas to go with the pies, and disposable cutlery is a must!
