Caoling Historic Trail.nThere are a few ways to get to the top, most popular routes are either from Dali Station, or Fulong station.nFrom Dali, it’s around 1hr from train station. You’ll pass by a temple and it’s stairs all the way up. If not, you can take the pavement.nFrom Fulong, it’s around 4km walk from station to the start of the trail. Then, you’ll climb around 1.8km in height.nPersonally, I think climbing from Dali is more efficient. I personally went up from Dali, and hiked down to Fulong. Fulong trail takes 2hrs+ one way, and it’s really far from the station.
Easy trail 1h30/2h00. Nice view point on top. Recommanded.
Taking a local train to Dali, we climbed up for an hour plus to the view that you see in this photo, then continued down the valley to the other side of the mountain.nnWe saw many many butterflies, a few lizards, some random poop at intervals in the middle of the road, shrimps in the drain and mountain streams merging into rivers.nnThe steps downhill can be slippery at some parts even while wearing hiking boots due to moss growing on some of the stone steps.nnWe finished the entire hike in 4h 10 minutes, walking from Dali Station, through the Caoling Historic Trail and then to Fulong Station. This included 3 short 5-10 minute rest stops and a short stroll through Yuanwangkeng Riverside Park.nnThere are several toilets throughout the trail, and we brought our own drinks and snacks.nnThe walk from Dali Station to the trail is much much nearer than from the trail to Fulong Station. If you are not good at climbing steps, you can follow the road upwards at the less steep gradient.
Amazing views
One of the best hiking trail with a magnificent view at the highest peak. Cows grazing at mountain sides and cliff is also one of the breathtaking things to see. You can start your hike at Dali Temple all the way to Fulong or vise versa. One thing to take note, the stones on the road could be very slippery on rainy days, therefore take precautions on every step.
