While the food was uniformly delicious, and the staff friendly, this was the most disappointing dining experience I have ever had.nnThe courses were served with metronomic timing at a rapid pace with no account taken for the time it would take to get though what was served. At one point, waiters hovered around the table waiting for my wife to finish a dish so that they could collect the plate just in time to set down the next course. When I asked for the pace to slow, we stopped receiving courses while the other tables received the remaining three or four courses; only once they had finished did the kitchen saw fit to start sending us courses again albeit at a marginally reduced pace.nnIt seemed that the kitchen had no flexibility and every table was expected to be ready for each course at the same time, and that time was 9 or 10 minutes after the last course.nnThis was shocking given the exceptionally high standard of the food served. Indeed, the staff were extremely nice, and were generous enough to offer us a complimentary glass of wine with desert. However, I would not recommend Mume to anyone.

Really wonderful restaurant, with creative and flavorful dishes. One of the best fine dining experiences in Taipei!nnThe price for the set menu is pretty reasonable, considering the quality of the food. I thought the portions weren't huge, but satisfying enough.

Went here for the first time years ago and never felt the need to return but recently a friend came up to Taipei and wanted to try so I thought I’d give it another shot. Maybe things have improved? The verdict was the same the second time: it’s average. The space is whatever, food & plating were both forgettable, and service could use improvement. Also why bother offering a prix fixe menu when weekend seatings are limited to 2 hours to allow turnover? Might as well let people order a la carte instead of rushing them through their last courses or asking them to move to the waiting area for dessert. Also moving someone’s plate aside while they’re literally still eating off of it is just not okay ever.
