Bad. Just bad. I don't know where to begin...the car they gave has been in multiple accidents. Or the fact we were being charged $500 per week for a beat up Fiesta. Or the fact we had to come from the other side of the island to exchange it which took a half a day. Let's not forget the slipping transmission, tire tread almost gone, worn out wipers, squeaky brakes, etc. It's in your best interest to avoid this place...

Support from Avis in cases of accidents or tyre puncture scenarios is pretty terrible in Taiwan. We had a flat tyre near Yilan sometime around Aug 2018 and we reported the same at 6PM in the evening on Sunday while we were returning back to Taipei from Hualien. Avis initally asked us to wait for 2 hours on the highway while the tow truck arrives. Later after 30 minutes they asked us to wait the entire night in the highway since they couldn't arrange the tow truck, and a tow truck could only be sent by them next morning. This lack of care about safety of passengers and the sheer lack of sensitivity is extremely disappointing specially since the generally the people in Taiwan are very helpful and accomodating. Eventually the rescue came from the local police department at Yilan, who forced Avis to arrange for assistance right away since staying on the highway was potentially very dangerous. Despite all this negligence in service, eventually we were charged by Avis, exhorbitant charges for a new tyre (which we already arranged to be replaced once ourselves in the middle of the night in an unfamiliar city, without the help from Avis who recommended us to stay the night somewhere and only bother Avis the next morning. Apparently the tyre wasn't up to the standards that Avis wanted although they couldn't be bothered to help us). We also were made to pay for the wheel rim damages caused by Tow truck sent by Avis for recovery. We ended up paying more the damages (which essentially was simply a flat tyre) with forcefully added overhead charges by Avis, than we paid for the rent of the car for 2 days. Having used Avis in US for months, it was disappointing to realise Avis in Taiwan to be so unreliable and Avis folks in Taiwan to be a bunch of crooks.

Giving one star since I can't give zero. Terrible service and negligence. Never going to rent again from Avis

On the morning of June 22, 2015, the counter staff should inform the cardholder before using the credit card authorization fee. This is the basic respect. Don't just care about getting the money, don't care about the customer's feeling, poor experience, I won't rent a car here next time.
