POSHPACKER HOTEL

A friendly hostel that I can happily stay for a month. Located centre of the city, easy to approach any other places in Taiwan because it is super close to the Taibei Main station

If you are familiar with the shared bathroom dormitory style hostels then Poshpacker is as perfect as it gets. Think ultra sleek designer brand modern style. The rooms are small but OK for one person especially if you can get one with a city view. The front desk crew are all very nice too.

As of Nov 2019, its main attraction is the inexpensive room rate during weekdays and within a walking distance of Taipei Train Station. The room is tiny and the single bed and its blanket (roughly 180cm in length) may be too short for many. The position of wall socks is bizarre and dangerous - just adjacent to and 30cm above the bed. Sound isolation and air ventilation could be better so pick rooms with windows and far away from the stair/elevator and the shared bathroom. Its café on the ground floor was closed for good.

Clean, safe and convenient hostel located just south of Taiwan Main Station. Perfect for a short jaunt in Taipei. Luggage lockers in the basement if needed. Clean rooms, shared bathrooms, floors are gender-specific. Laundry available on the roof. Safe available in the room. Not a lot of area to hang clothes. Perfect if you have a small carry on bag but could be rough for someone traveling with larger luggage. Air conditioner switches off when you leave with the key card (eco-friendly and economical) so the room is usually a bit stuffy upon return but it cools again quickly (small room). Some rooms don't have windows.

To be fair it was very clean all interior furniture is new and situated just next to main station. Might be a good choice if you travel with little luggage. If you travel with a lot of luggage like me its a problem as the rooms are too tiny. Bathroom is on the floor. To sign up: I think the price is exaggerated for what you get - I got more in pricier Japan at Toyoko Inn for less money
