Feng Hwang Ger Hotel

Very accommodating. Old fashioned place but the private bath is very nice. I booked the wrong room and the staff helped my wife and I upgrade to a nicer one. She speaks Chinese though so be aware of that!

Hotel is fine, a modest establishment that is clean and pleasant enough - maybe slightly expensive compared to other areas but it is a famous location so I think the price is ok. As usual the pictures of the rooms are flatteringly large, hot spring bath was actually quite small but nevertheless very enjoyable. TV, air conditioning, jug and fridge all modern and working. A few small restaurants and a convenience store nearby, a western style pizza/bruchetta/wine and craft beer cafe/bar also nearby, ten minutes walk to area with lots more restaurants (or hosts can drive you). Breakfast was standard Taiwanese style rice porridge, assorted vegatarian dishes and one dish also had some chicken. Bread or toast with butter and jam etc. Soymilk, Tea and Coffee are also available - quite tasty but no chance of bacon and eggs or breakfast cereal. Hosts were very friendly and offered to drive me to buy dinner etc, go to mrt station and they will also pick you up if you call but I'm not sure of there English ability as we spoke in Mandarin.

Great place, great service, wonderful private hot spring bath. Highly recommended to those who would like to relax at the end of their city trip in Taipei.

Loved this place. Its one of those older buildings that they remodel to keep up with the times, so from the outside it looks kinda new, but inside, towards the back you can see and feel the older architecture that once made this place great. It may not give you the best views but it is very close to the thermal valley and other attractions. Also loved the fact that the bathtub in the bathroom is connected to the hot springs water so you can have your own hot bath inside the comfort of your own room.
