I thought this museum was absolutely lovely. It is nearly abandoned right now, but I imagine during the Dragon Boat Festival there are more tourists. It cost NT$130 to get in for an adult. Nearly all of the displays have English translations and the outdoor area is quite picturesque. I spent about an hour here.

Well preserved building and artefacts. Ticket required for entry.

The building used to be residence of a very wealthy and powerful family in Taiwan and is now donated for museum purpose. It is a nice building and you can see some interesting artefacts inside.

Formerly one of the five major families in Taiwan, Gu Family, the former residence of Mr. Gu Xianrong. Built in 1912, it is a Japanese-style western-style building. Originally used to receive international guests, Japanese nobles, officials and gentry celebrities. There are more than 6,000 pieces of art and folk relics collected by Mr. Gu Lao and donated by the people. Looking at the elegant and luxurious mansion and deep courtyard, one can imagine the luxury and prestige of the aristocratic life. The courtyard with a small bridge and flowing water, building a pavilion to invite the moon, and comparing with a mansion that is as strong as a bunker, has a contradictory flavor. Mr. Gu Xianrong was one of the key people responsible for communicating with the Japanese in Taipei City at the time. With his communicative political skills, he reduced the Japanese's early acceptance of Taiwan's killing. It also laid a foundation for the Gu family for a hundred years. The cultural relics museum also accepts the display of nearby cultural relics, such as the traditional Chinese medicine museum. The cultural relics on display are properly stored. The introduction explained that the Gu family donated all the land and the ground objects. Thanks to their selfless dedication, we can have the opportunity to understand the flourishing

Spent the $130 entrance fee in 20min. A lot of stories to tell, but not well prepared.
