Jiancheng Circle

Easy access from Ximen station and Taipei Main.

Taipei is full of random art in many forms old and new, it gives it a good charm and can be in unexpected places. It is in a busy area of Datong (which is a bit redundant as most of Taipei is busy) where much traffic converges and one of the off shoot streets is a mostly food night market. This site has historic significance, was a bustling market in the past.., it is now a pleasant small park area with statues.. and fountains.. with lighting when it is dark. The actual circle part is fenced off but you can see in it. There is information about the history (including English version) that you can read. Often small children are playing in the area with parents sitting around the perimeter facing in.

The water fountains go off every hour on the hour for about 12 minutes and offer tons of fun for the little ones. Highly recommended to beat the Taipei heat! As a bonus, the night market is right down the road and offers a great way to make a food/fountain/fun trip of things!
