Very nice stay in one of the oldest hot springs in Taiwan. Opened to the public in 1919 and used before that by local police. The hotel is actually a complex of the main building and hot spring and several smaller buildings 3 minutes walking from the main house. I was in one of the lower buildings and my own hot which was nice. The main hot springs consist of three large pools, all fairly simple compared to more modern properties. The staff were great, especially Robert, who gave a tour and showed me to cabin. The breakfast buffet was on the porch with a great view of the valley and New Year fireworks, 2021. Excellent stay

This is a old establishment but it's clean and affordable. Under 5 mins cab ride from the train station. We paid 200 Taiwan dollars each and was allowed to use the individual tubs or common pool with no time constraints. The water is hot and clean with a hint of metal smell. There's a warm and hot pool so you can choose whichever you are comfy with. Perhaps it's a Monday so it's really quiet. There was another korean family when we arrived and 2 elderly Taiwanese came as we left. We practically had the place to ourselves.

This place served the most amazing traditional Chinese breakfast and I wish I could leave it a rave review. We paid $1400 NT to stay in one of the tatami rooms. The shared bathroom had mosquitos in it and smelled like cigarettes. We left the door to our room open and came back to a cockroach walking across the floor. The water was very good, and very hot. But the accommodations were not good value for the money. I would come for the breakfast but I would not stay here again.
