Nice location and facilities, but utterly corrupt management and pitiful governance. Intelligent students with potential have their human rights trampled upon by a foul-mouthed pack of hooligans whose every whim (including falsified academic grades) is catered to by a spineless and incompetent leadership team. Teachers are criticized for dealing with problem students via a Pol Pot/Saloth Slar-inspired network of child informants dealing in rumor and hearsay. There is no curriculum and students are not means tested or required to really do any work in class. Classroom management seems to revolve around either being shouted at via loudspeaker or made to line up outside. Good teachers keep quitting on the spot to avoid illegal theft from their wage packet. Overtime is forced upon them and the spoils withheld via a raft of illegal control alterations and risible excuses. Teacher benefits are promised on commercials and in interviews before mysteriously disappearing. There is direct bigotry and animosity towards foreign teachers - 'they're just trying to make easy money!' (wrong on both counts; it's not easy and there isn't much money) culminating in one teacher being fired on the spot without notice. Fortunately for Nan Scam, The Taipei City Department of Labor, Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs Police (who, to be fair, did raid them for work permit fraud - ker-ching!) are the sorriest, most pathetic, inept, thumb-sucking collection of recalcitrant numskulls in The Asia Pacific Region. Nan Scam will continue to embezzle money and impart lackluster education for years to come...

The four groups in the middle school have the same tuition, but the resources are unevenly distributed. The good teachers are also concentrated in the math and science bilingual group. When the school’s policy is unreasonable, even if most parents object to it, the school resolutely implements it. Similar to an enterprise’s boss order, middle and high-level schools will enforce it regardless of whether the policy is correct or not. It is a very authoritarian school.
