One of the oldest temples in town. Matsu was known to protect fishermen in the old days. The temple has recent remodel work. There were more golden shining façades.
Clean, well maintained, and extremely financially strong temple. It worships Matzu or Goddess of the Sea, and the temple is well liked by locals and especially by fishermen and marine related business. The Temple was also called Chingan Temple, Keelung MaTzu (Matsu) Temple, and it is one of the three large temple a in n Keelung.nnThe temple was built in 1780 by early immigrants who were mainly fishermen and marine sailing. Then, it was expanded and rebuilt in current site in 1815, although it was rebuilt in 1842 and 1912 due to earthquake damge, war, and natural worn-out.nnThe temple is articulate in its stone-based building structure, including gates, columns, frames, and others.
