Walking towards Ershawan Fort, you will pass Keelung 228 Monument - a statue that looks like a giant screw surrounded by plants and flowers. The monument reminds of the 228 (February 28) incident in Keelung in 1947 when an anti-government uprising was violently suppressed. Thousands of civilians were killed during the massacre.

A very odd location for this memorial, conveniently tucked away from the main areas of the city. A pleasant stopping-off point between Zhongzheng Park and the old fort.

You can visit the scenic spots around Ershawan Fort.
