Emerson on Hurumzi and the Tea House restaurant

We came for dinner in this restaurant, which is located at the top of Hurumzi located. We had dinner on a terrace with a panoramic and amazing view on Stone town, surrounding islands and oceans. UNFORGETTABLE!!! We were not guests of the hotel, and we had reserved in the morning to eat there for dinner. Food is delicious. The staff is also very professional. A must where to eat in Stone town!!!

The lunch option definitely did it for me. At first I was worried about eating a hot meal in the blazing sun but the location of the tea house is such that you have some breeze whilst seated on the floor/lower seats to eat your meal. Its great for sharing but make sure you ascertain they bring enough food if your party is more than two. The waiters are nice, the service and views are great so that you forget the flights of stairs going up.

The north room at Emerson on Hurumzi is probably my favourite hotel room in the world. It's like being in a fairy tale. One side of the room consists of 'French' windows which open to a balcony with the most amazing ocean view ever. If you open all the windows it gives you the illusion you're sleeping outside and with being so high up it's like sleeping in 'heaven'. Then there's the massive stone tub which easily fits two people, and it's partially in the open air so I can highly recommend having a late night bath while gazing at the moon and stars. The staff is absolutely amazing, professional and efficient and above all super friendly, like most people are on the island. In short, Emerson on Hurumzi is probably one of the most authentic Zanzibari experiences you could ask for.

Went for for a local styled night of dinner and music on the rooftop. Food and drinks were good, music and atmosphere great, nice view over the city, service was slow. Would recommend
