Not far from Nevytskyi Castle in the Uzhhorod region is a memorial to the famous Hungarian scientist-forester Karl Wagner. As it turned out, Wagner lived only 49 years (1830-1879), but managed to do a lot of good. It was during his tenure as head of the forest department of the Hungarian Ministry of Finance that repair work began on the castle. In the second half of the 19th century, Wagner organized the construction of an original fountain near the castle, as well as memorable alley plantings of larch, Douglas fir, linden, fir, yew and other valuable tree species. A monument was erected here shortly after Wagner's death, but it has not survived. Four years ago, Uzhhorod Forestry and the Hungarian Foresters' Association erected a monument in honor of their predecessor, Karl Wagner. At present I do not know about the monuments to people of such an important profession as a forester in Transcarpathia.

Nearby are the ruins of Nevytsky Castle. Now there began repairs to conservation, otherwise it will completely fall apart.
