Here we had a great Bessarabia festival in summer 2017. In the stadium of Tarutino about 50 (?) Different ethnic groups from this multicultural region performed in their traditional costumes. Bessarabia today belongs to Ukraine and Moldova, between the world wars to Romania and before that to Russia. The political borders always wandered across it. It was a great festival with representatives from different nations giving speeches. I couldn't understand anything, but I had the impression that the peaceful coexistence of different cultures is celebrated here. Even the former German population of Bessarabia, which was completely relocated in 1940 during the Second World War, was considered. For them, a horse-drawn carriage drove into the stadium (see photo with the coachman). Some German tourists from our hotel were allowed to ride on this carriage.
