On Kuyalnik, near Odessa, in December 2020, lanterns appeared right in the estuary. This apocalyptic installation was created by the Italian artist Jean Maria Tosatti within the framework of the project “My heart is empty as a mirror”. In 2018, the artist embarked on a worldwide pilgrimage that took him to many cities and countries where he looked for an opportunity to portray the complexity of the current era. Each work he created through this process forms a kind of episode in the visual novel, where visions, prophecies and reality cannot be distinguished. The work in the waters of the estuary is the 4th episode after Catania, Riga and Cape Town. According to the artist, his work is reflections on the relationship between man and nature after the end of the era of mankind. This is his vision of the beauty of the relationship between nature and human ruins. According to the artist: "Odessa looks like a place that was shipwrecked in time. Walking through the fields outside the city, you feel that you are not going somewhere, but" somewhere in time. "And Kuyalnik seems to be a place where time is the most important invention a person - no longer makes sense.
