It is very important to remember that the mother is ready to give her life for us. I cannot look at this monument without tears.

Steel sculpture of this size in the USSR was made for the first time. Technological design and assembly were carried out by specialists of the Paris Commune Kiev Plant, taking into account the recommendations issued by the Paton Electric Welding Institute for welding stainless steel elements in separate block sections weighing 25-30 tons.

On Friday, June 22, 2012, the Day of Sorrow and Memory of Victims of the Great Patriotic War in Kiev in Victory Park opened the first in Ukraine monument of the Mother Widow. The city authorities supported the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, which undertook to implement the public initiative to establish this monument. The monument turned out to be very touching and heartfelt, recreating forever in the stone the strength and sorrow of the widow's mother, who, at such a difficult time, herself cherished and raised the children left without fathers who died for their bright future.
