The main tasks of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations are: 1) realization of the state policy in the field of civil protection, protection of population and territories from emergency situations, prevention of their occurrence, emergency response, rescue, fire suppression, fire and technological safety, emergency and rescue services, as well as hydrometeorological activities; 2) the implementation of state supervision (control) for observance and implementation of the requirements of legislation in the field of civil protection, fire and technological safety, the activities of emergency services; 3) submission to the Minister of Internal Affairs of proposals for ensuring the formation of state policy in the specified areas; 4) implementation within the limits of the powers envisaged by law, state policy in the sphere of volunteer activity.
