The rowing canal on the outskirts of the city of Ternopil, near the village of Bila is a training base for Ternopil rowers. Its construction began in 1989, but it was never put into operation. In 1992, the work was completed by 90%. In 2017, the work was resumed and, subject to timely funding, the Ternopil Water Arena may open in October 2020 for the World Canoeing and Kayaking Championship among veterans. For the first time, Ukraine will host such a high-level rowing competition. About a thousand participants are expected. Canada, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, and the United Kingdom have already agreed to participate. Athletes will compete in the 200 and 500 meters. Registration of participants starts on August 1. The Water Arena of Ternopil will be not only a place for sports competitions of all-Ukrainian and international levels, but also a tourist location, an object where residents of the region and tourists can have a rest.
