The Old Synagogue in Chortkiv was built in the eighties of the seventeenth century. Now tucked away between homes, hard to find. Rectangular structure without architectural decoration. Jews lived in Chortkiv as early as the beginning of the seventeenth century. The book Maseat Binyamin by Rabbi Binyamin Selnik, who was a rabbi in Pidhirtsi, tells us that Chortkov's Hebrews came here for trade. Got long rolls, brought wine for sale. Over time, the wine trade became one of the main occupations of the devil Jews. In 1739 and 1765 the Jewish community paid for the right to build a synagogue. Initially, they build a bet midrash Rabbi Hirscheli. It was used to study the Torah. In 1754, the construction of the synagogue began.

The synagogue in a rather neglected state, visible traces of interventions, when the shrine was converted into a warehouse. It is unclear whether it is possible to inspect from the inside, because the monument is in the territory of the medical college. I heard that it has already been handed over to a Jewish community.
