The memorial to the fallen Turkish soldiers is located in the village of Gutysko, in the valley of the mountain range. It was here, in 1916-1917, that the Great Battle took place between the troops of the Russian Empire under the command of General Kerensky and Baron Wrangel, a total of about 75,000 soldiers and officers on one side and the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen (USS), Turkish troops, German troops and Austro-Hungarian troops. empire under the command of Turkish General Ismail Cevat Chobanli, a total of about 40,000 soldiers and officers. By order of Enver Pasha was sent to help in the fight against the Russians XV - th corps of the 5th Turkish Army, which included the 19th and 20th divisions. Between the White Mountain and the Devil's Mountain, in the village of Gutysko, there was a hospital and headquarters. The house where the headquarters was still preserved, but abandoned, overgrown, then still under a thatched roof, and now under a tile. The first battle took place on August 19, 1916. The right wing of the Turks, together with units of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen (USS), was covered by the 55th German Division from General Hoffmann's corps. The second battle, more bloody, was on September 2, 1916. As a result, the first Turkish officers were killed and, as a result, the first and second lines of defense were breached. The Turks began to fear and flee the battlefield. General Ismail Cevat Chobanli personally addressed the army and called on all Muslims to pray to overcome the fear of the enemy. And it worked. The worst battles were on September 7-9, 1916, but the Turks did not retreat and fought like lions. Fighting continued along the entire front line, from the village of Lopushnya to the town of Berezhany and the village of Shibalin, until August 1917. But the Great Battle of the village of Gutyska became key. During the Great Battle of September 7-9, 1916, General Ismail Cevat Chobanli was mortally wounded, and between 160 and 200 Turkish officers and about 5,500 Turkish soldiers and about 14,000 Ukrainian, German, and Austro-Hungarian soldiers of the Turkish army were killed. A total of 50,000 to 75,000 soldiers were killed on both sides. White Mountain turned red with blood. The troops of the Russian Empire suffered a crushing defeat. General Ismail Cevat Chobanli and about 67-80 Turkish officers are buried in the village of Gutisko. At the burial place of a Turkish officer, according to tradition, a stone hat was placed. So far, only 61 stone caps have been found. Another 80 Turkish officers are buried on a mountain in the village of Lopushnya (distance - 3 km.). The Turkish army suffered heavy losses, but on August 22, 1917, they returned home with the Great Victory. The Russians retreated.
Near the city of Berezhani lies more than 200 martyrs buried in 1917 in the Martyrdom in Pidvisoke Village. It is understood that 59 of the tombstones were martyred officers and others were private.
In the 1st World War, there were 59 officers and more than 200 martyrs who were killed in Galicia Front. Martyrdom was built in 1917. It is said that there are around 20 Galician Turkish cemeteries within the borders of Ukraine. May my Lord make the sites of heaven ... With gratitude and gratitude ...
