He was born in Permishlan in 1760, to his father Aharon Leib, who was the son of Rabbi Meir the Great of Premishan, a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. As a young man, his behavior turned the attention of the many, was very devoted to the commandments of charity, and devoted much of his time to the poor. On the advice of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, his father blessed the hidden daughter of the righteous Rabbi Itamar the High Priest. From the year 1813, when his father, a famous Tzaddik, passed away, he served as a disciple of Rabbi Mordechai of Kremnitz. Rabbi Meir was known as a wonderman and "open-eyed." He had seen everything, and she wanted to discover what he saw. For this reason, he aroused the rigors of his generation, led by Rabbi Uri of Strelisk. His simplicity and humility were so great that many did not understand his path. But the great ones who knew him from close up knew that he possessed the Holy Spirit and was great in Torah. His admirers included Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson and Rabbi Shlomo Kalina. Rabbi Chaim of Metznz was one of those who visited him in Permishlan. His basic characteristic is the love of Israel and the defense of even Israeli criminals. His name came to fame as a man of salvation. Thousands went to him to receive a blessing from him. Were close to the masses, walked in his midst and adjusted his teachings and conversations to common people. He was accustomed to interpreting verses and articles of the world in a popular way and even in the language of the gentiles. From the Daat website
