I was at the stud farm a couple of years ago. I traveled from Mirgorod by regular bus. Because of the procedures in the sanatorium, I went on Sunday, and it was a mistake. Because only on weekdays can you see riders train horses. Thanks to Tatyana Petrovna for taking a tour of the museum (100 UAH per group). The story about the history of the plant was interesting, but the museum itself has long been in need of renovation. Numerous cups, awards, prizes, photographs of horses, their pedigrees are exhibited. The stud farm was founded in 1888 by the Grand Duke D. Romanov, the grandson of Emperor Nicholas I; he built stables, a riding hall, a hippodrome, an infirmary, and living quarters for his own money. The buildings have survived to this day. And the prince was shot in 1919 along with other members of the Romanov family. At the stud farm, the Dubrovsk type of the Orlov trotter is bred, this is the standard of a draft horse both in Ukraine and in Russia. We remembered the Khrenovskaya stud farm (Voronezh region), where the Oryol breed was bred under the leadership of Count A. Orlov. As a student, I visited there, so the topic was interesting. The count himself was an excellent rider, and according to his idea, the new breed should be harmoniously built, hardy, comfortable under the saddle, in a harness and in a plow, equally good at parade and in battle. And the main requirement for these horses was a playful, precise trot, since a trotting horse does not get tired for a long time and shakes the carriage a little. And by the method of complex crossing, such a breed was bred. And also in Dubrovka horses of heavy draft breed are bred. In the photo, they look handsome. However, seeing the horses firsthand proved to be problematic. Trotters, yearling stallions, mares are kept in separate pens and in different stables. But the pens were empty - the herds were driven into the steppe to pasture. We must wait when they return. I was impressed by the sculptural composition in front of the office entrance. Well, very touching. The mare Govorukha and her son Granit, the largest producer of breeding stallions, served as prototypes. There were few visitors on Sunday, and no workers at all. I saw a horse grave with a fence, can you imagine how horses are valued here? On the way to the bus stop, I walked past a church, in the courtyard - the grave of the first manager of the stud farm, retired Major General Izmailov. Thanks to his experience and care, the farm has made rapid progress in development. This specialist gave his all to animals. He worked at the factory and lived until his death in 1913.
Some breeds were surprised. Interesting on the masks
We arrived today at the stud farm. No one is visible around. Mobile communication is missing. We agreed in advance about driving lesson from 15 to 16 with Sasha, and then Tatyana Petrovna had to conduct a tour. Unfortunately, we received neither a lesson nor a tour. At 15.15, we met workers who reported that Sasha had recently left and Tatiana Petrovna too. So .... We looked at the horses that were on the street and went back. Very unpleasant.
Huge territory. Complex of constructions of the century. There is a sports school and it is very convenient because when you are resting in Mirgorod, you can come to a sport, or just ride a horse. At the same time, prices are very democratic. There is also a "hotel", but we were not there, so I can not tell anything about it.
Every year, tourists come to Dibrovka on May 1, because this day marks the anniversary of the foundation of the stud farm number 62, founded as they say - for the king, in 1888. Dibrovsky stud farm and today in the ranks - is the company number 1 in Ukraine for raising trotter breeds of horses.
