Park Tarasa Shevchenka

A fun place to take a walk through. Usually quite a few people in the area. Lots of different things to see. Fountains, statues and a great view of the Port.

Three park with nice view to the port of Odesa. Good to visit at the summer day, maybe not the best at the winter.

Near Long before Odessa existed there was an Ottoman fortress on the site of the this Park over the harbour. When it was taken in the 18th century it was replaced by a Russian stronghold, which soon became obsolete as the frontier shifted far to the southwest. So from the beginning of the 19th century this area became the port’s quarantine, and there’s still an arcade from this period where you can view the container port. It was all turned into a park in 1875 and at first was named after Tsar Alexander II, before switching to the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in the 1950s. There’s a monument to Shevchenko at the entrance, as well as one to Tsar Alexander II which has been restored since the Soviet period.

Great place with popular earlier Football club & stadium, nice pavements and water fountain, it's safe to drink that tap water.

Good park overall, amusement side needs some work, never ready on time when the park is scheduled to open...
