Wonderful place

Unique baroque interior of the 12th century church. On the walls there are paintings of the beginning of the XVIII century with images of contemporary Ukrainian figures. Under the walls - special chairs for old and infirm monks. The service in this church takes place once a year - on the temple holiday of the Trinity in the summer.

In summer there are services here, the church, though so small, is very majestic.

Above the main entrance to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, above the Holy Gate, there is a unique building - the Trinity Gate Church. It is the only one of the above-ground laurel structures that has remained intact since Kievan Rus. It is a graceful Ukrainian Baroque art work, generously decorated with stucco, a curved pediment and a gilded dome. And the foundation on which the Trinity Gate Church stands is an ancient stone temple. The building has two tiers: on the first there is a passage (passage) inside the monastery, on the second - the church itself. In ancient times, only princes and high clergy were allowed to pass through the Holy Gate. For everyone else, there were small side gates. Ever since then, the tradition has remained - to remove the headgear, entering the middle.

In this small temple, like 900 years ago, is the entrance to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Not only did the church survive the invasion of Batu troops in 1240, it was also the main temple for a long time after the destruction of the Assumption Cathedral in 1941. Although in the eighteenth century the church was renovated, but the foundation and part of the walls remained intact since the beginning of the XII century.
