The Kyiv city archive is part of the Kyiv city state administration and reports to the city Kyiv council. It is part of Ukraine’s national archive system and contains documents related to the history of Kyiv covering the period starting XVII century. It includes documents reflecting city administration, economic status of the population, voting lists and census data. It also covers documentation related to economic activities in this area during the past centuries (the opening of plants and factories, construction, renovation, city planning). The archives maintains materials of the key education facilities which operated in the city during this period: the St Volodymyr university, musical conservatory, cadet corps, industrial colleges and gymnasiums. Most documents cover the period after 1917.
