The Kyiv Regional Youth Library (formerly known as the Yaroslav Halan Library) has been in existence since 1951 and is now the communal institution of the Kyiv Regional Council (KOBU KOR). The Library is a methodical center for youth structural units (LSPs) of libraries of Kyiv region. Therefore, in addition to servicing the readers, the educational work of promoting the book, it provides methodical and practical assistance to library specialists of Kyiv region. The library conducts scientific-practical seminars, provides methodological assistance in the field, advises specialists, participates in the organization of advanced training and continuing professional education of library staff, is the basis of practice of students of the Kiev Regional School of Culture and Arts and students of the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts. KO KOBYU Publishing House is engaged in publishing: publishes relevant scientific and methodological literature for libraries of the youth field. KOBYU staff systematically participate in various scientific conferences, forums, attend seminars and other mass events in libraries of the country, exchange experience with colleagues from other regions of Ukraine. The library collections consist of 50 thousand copies of books and information documents on various subjects. The collection of literature is aimed at students, students, teachers and teachers. Also in the library halls you can find literature for children, fiction, a variety of periodicals, including 180 titles of newspapers and magazines. Those who write research papers will also be of interest, such as abstracts, coursework, student research papers, and more. In addition to books, there are sheet music and a wide selection of art albums - more than 3.5 thousand copies of all types and genres. Every year the library serves more than 5 thousand registered users, with a total number of visits more than 26 thousand. The library is appealed to by young people from all over the city of Kiev, for obtaining literature and information from all branches of knowledge, since the library's fund is universal and has been completed for many years. . About 110,000 copies are published annually, of which about 65% are books and 35% are periodicals. Through the efforts of the employees, the library annually commemorates the memorable dates and anniversaries of prominent people with thematic book exhibitions, the design of halls with interesting quotes from books, the publication of information bibliographic, local lore. Thematic users of literature are constantly held thematic reviews of literature, round tables, evenings-meetings, conversations, consultations on issues of national tradition, history and culture of Ukraine, Ukrainian studies, ethnology, youth education and self-education, development of intellectual potential and general erudition of young people. Exhibition-presentations of works by young artists, film screenings, photo shoots, etc. are held in KOBYU.
