In the western part of the Sofiyivka National Dendrological Park there is a rose garden, a Chinese gazebo and an oak grove. Dubrava "Dubinka" is famous for its three-hundred-year-old oak tree and Chinese pavilion. It is very quiet here, visitors to the park rarely reach this, by the way, the highest point of the park. But, if you have planned a few days to visit the park, be sure to take a walk through the forest glades and forests. And if you need to make an important decision, to comprehend something, then it is better to do it here, in this historical and ancient place. In fact, this is the territory of the former Greek Forest, known since the 17th century. Some oak trees are 200 years old. All important events, meetings, wedding ceremonies, courts took place under the sacred oaks of the Slavs. The oldest and most respected oaks were surrounded by a fence, beyond which only priests could enter. The oak is a symbol of the continuity of traditions and the inviolability of treaties, therefore, it was under the oak trees that our ancestors concluded truces and performed rituals. According to popular legend, it was under this three-hundred-year-old oak tree that the heroes of the peasant anti-feudal uprising of 1768, Maxim Zheleznyak and Ivan Gonta, met. The revolutionaries, too, did not lag behind. The glade served as the venue for the first city meetings, demonstrations, gatherings. In 1904, the first May Day took place here, and in 1919 the workers celebrated May 1. And the Second World War on the territory of Dubinka glade left an extensive burial place of German soldiers, which was moved in 2000. The remains of more than 1600 owners of military tokens were taken for reburial. And initially in this place there was a settlement of the ancient Slavs, the Zarubinets archaeological culture. Maybe you will find some fragment of an ancient vessel. So if you can't spend a few hours in this picturesque place, then you can take a break either in the Chinese gazebo, or under an old oak tree, which is fenced with a bench around the entire perimeter. You can watch grazing horses and rams. Next to the above objects there is a tree on which some tie knots from cellophane bags for good luck. The picture is unsightly! Enjoy your stay!
