Tar Colony Polish colony located between the villages of Dziegciów and Oktawin. On July 12, 1943, the UPA and local Ukrainians massacred Poles in the afternoon, killing at least 65 people. The effectiveness of the attack was facilitated by the size of the colonies and the dispersion of the farms. The colony was surrounded by attackers, and then the houses were set on fire and their inhabitants murdered. Fugitives were shot. A small group of Poles took refuge in clay. The slaughter of the colonies continued at night. The caught Poles were spent in the smithy. The smithy was closed and set on fire. About 40 people burned alive, including women with children.
