Dmitrov Church, built in 1567 in the village. Gishyn, Kovel district, Volyn - one of the oldest monuments of wooden architecture. In the XVIII and XIX centuries. its restructuring was carried out. Gothic architecture was far from the point of view of geographical and cultural-historical remoteness of this style from Polissya, on the territory of which we observe a kind of slowdown of cult construction in general due to the perception of external factors that were gradually assimilated in Volhynia. Polissya wooden churches with a bell tower are one of the oldest types of sacred buildings in chronology. The wooden churches of Polissya are characterized by the fact that their western, entrance part had a two-tiered structure, consisting of a low log house and a bell tower located above it. The nave and the altar were designed on a rectangular or square foundation, and the presbytery was characterized by a hexagonal frame. The general composition of the buildings was asymmetrical, as complications from the western part shifted the main emphasis in the perception from the nave to the entrance facade. Dmytrivska Church provides the most complete idea of the architecture of wooden churches in Polissya. However, repair work and replacement of certain temple elements negatively affected the cleanliness of its architectural ensemble. However, all these layers had an insignificant, partial character, the three-dimensional structure of the monument remained intact, repeating the scheme of the Polissya three-part temple: it consisted of three consecutive log cabins - the nave, nave and altar. The ceiling above the central frame is a sample of an ancient quadrangular pyramidal top. The single-tiered frame bell tower is considered to be the only new element that appeared in the 19th century. as a result of reconstruction, however, it is important that it has been preserved, as the dismantled bell tower indicates the incompleteness of the architectural monument. Although the external forms of the building are asymmetrical, the composition is dominated by the central room of the temple - the nave, which in height and size exceeds the semi-dark low rooms of the altar and the nave, there are also elements of decorative decoration: ancient choirs, monumental iconostasis, figured in the west wall. The temple preserves a miraculous icon of the Mother of God - Odigitria (XVI century), which was hidden in the throne for many years, as its upper part. The icon was once part of the iconostasis. According to eyewitnesses, miracles happen with its help, which can be heard from many parishioners. Dmytrivska Church in the village of Gishyn, Kovel district, is a parish Orthodox church in Volyn, which according to documents is a monument of national importance.
