In Odesa PUBLIC we often write where, what and when happened, and when we point out that, for example, in Derevyanko Square, near the "House of Furniture", an accident occurred, our readers are at a loss, and indignantly write that we we are confused in the squares.
But I want to assure you - it's not so!
Not many know that since the spring of 2013, the leadership of the Odessa City Council has decided to rename the Independence Square in the area of Boris Derevyanko!
These are the pies we have here ... :)
Boris Fyodorovich Derevyanko
Boris Fyodorovich Derevyanko (pseudonym Andrei Yasen, October 6, 1938, Janovka (now Ivanovka), Ivanovo District, Odessa Region - August 11, 1997, Odessa) - Soviet and Ukrainian publicist; the creator, the first and permanent editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Evening Odessa" until his death; Honored Journalist of the Ukrainian SSR; second several books and scripts of television films; People's Deputy of the USSR, deputy of many convocations of the Odessa City Council.
Repeatedly invited to work in the central mass media of the Ukrainian SSR and the USSR, but invariably rejected these proposals. He was a critic of the former mayor of Odessa Eduard Gurvits.
"Derevyanko worked in the area of the current Independence Square, and I think it will be normal and proper if this square will be renamed in honor of B.Derevyanko, and the existing area named after B.Derevyanko (the former area of the USSR Constitution) - in Independence Square, - said the first deputy city chairman Sergei Chernenko.
Recall, on August 11, 1997 editor of the "Evening of Odessa" Boris Derevyanko was shot by a hired killer, who was detained and convicted. The customer of the crime has not yet been found.
